1. General Information
The
International Chemistry Competition is an international competition for students. Participants who successfully completed the Qualification Round are eligible to participate in the Semi-Final Round. The Semi-Final Round consists of a supervised 60-minute exam with three problems, including one that requires students to engage with a real-world physics research paper.
2. Teacher Registration
Semi-Final Round participants need to find a teacher who agrees to supervise their exam. The teacher registration and exam procedure is as follows:
- Teachers must register online: Registration for Teachers
- We will review and approve or reject teachers within a few days.
- Approved teachers can add students to their account: Login for Teachers
- Approved teachers can meet with their student(s) and supervise the online exam at any time between Sunday, 10 May 2026, 00:01 UTC+0, and Tuesday, 12 May 2026, 23:59 UTC+0. To do so, students need to open the exam website on a computer, laptop, or phone and log in.
- Teachers must take one photo of the exam conditions during the exam and upload the photo via their teacher account (showing the participant, the device/screen for the exam, and the surroundings; see examples ➚). The upload form will appear after the exam has started.
- After the exam, students have 10 minutes to scan and upload their written solutions via the exam interface using a phone. This step must be supervised by the teacher.
3. Teacher Requirements and Responsibilities
Teacher Requirements:
- Must be employed at a government-accredited school or university (no private tutors).
- Must currently be an active teacher or professor (no retired teachers).
- Must not be related to the participant (no family members).
The teacher must ensure that:
- No information about the Semi-Final Round exam gets published.
- The student(s) do not open other browser tabs, websites, or windows during the exam.
- The student(s) do not use any other electronic devices (e.g., phones, AI tools).
- The student(s) do not use any external information sources (e.g., internet, notes, books) besides the research paper provided in the exam interface.
- The student(s) do not receive help from the teacher or any other person.
- Cheating students are reported and disqualified.
→ The school can provide a computer or laptop. Participants can also bring their own device. A single teacher may supervise multiple students at the same time, and if there are multiple Semi-Final Round participants from the same school, they should be supervised together.
→ Students must bring blank sheets of paper (not more than twenty) and pens (not more than three) to take notes and write their solutions. The research paper is available in the exam interface and must not be brought as a physical copy.
→ All teachers must take a photo of the exam conditions during the exam (showing the participant, the device/screen for the exam, and the surroundings;
see examples ➚). You only need to upload a single image (regardless of supervising more than one participant).
The exam can be supervised at any time between Sunday, 10 May 2026, 00:01 UTC+0, and Tuesday, 12 May 2026, 23:59 UTC+0.
